Build a portfolio that gets you booked

The person hiring you will probably spend less than a minute on your portfolio. Make that minute count.

Whatto include

  • Your best 8 to 12 pieces. Not everything you've made. Quality beats quantity every time.

  • Recent work first. Show who you are now.

  • A short bio, three or four sentences: what you make, where you're based, what you're available for.

  • A clear way to reach you: email and one or two social links.

  • For performers: one strong video under two minutes, a recent photo and a short list of past shows.

What to cut

  • Old work you wouldn't make today

  • Several versions of the same idea

  • Anything blurry, cropped badly or hard to load

Where to share it

  • A simple website or a free portfolio page that you control.

  • Instagram works as a portfolio if your grid is focused on your work.

  • The BIPOC-CA directory. Your profile puts your work in front of people looking to hire BIPOC creatives.

Keep itfresh

Update your portfolio every few months. Swap in new pieces as you make them, and take out the ones that no longer represent you.

Ready to be found? Join the BIPOC-CA directory. It takes about 10 minutes
